Redevelopment Commission Meeting 06/27/2019

City-NEws-e1455073509249The Charlestown Redevelopment Commission met today for a regularly scheduled meeting and public hearing. Following is a summary of the meeting with full audio (7:37) available: 

  1. Call to Order/Pledge of Allegiance
  2. Determination of Quorum and Roll Call: Members present were Pat Glotzbach, Ted Little, Eric Vaughn, and Mayor Bob Hall. George Roberts was absent. Also in attendance were City Attorney Michael Gillenwater and Clerk Treasurer Donna Coomer
  3. Approval of prior meeting’s minutes, current claims, and payroll allowance docket from 06/10/2019 to 06/23/2019 combined into one motion for approval.
    • Motion to approve made by Eric Vaughn
    • Seconded by Ted Little
    • No Discussion
    • Unanimous Approval
  4. Public Hearing
    • Paul Wheatley introduced Resolution No 2019-R-6. He explained that this resolution allows the city to take on debt to support the Renaissance Project. Property taxes from the location will go into the TIF fund from which repayment of the bond will be taken.
    • Mayor Hall opened the floor for public comment on the public hearing portion of the meeting.
    • No comments were made
    • Paul Wheatley said this is the last public step on this resolution. He anticipates the Renaissance Project will break ground in August. They are currently half-way through their design process. He said the increment of commercial property taxes will go into the Tax Fund. Residential taxes will continue to go into the standard taxing units.
  5. Ordinances and Resolutions
    • Resolution No 2019-R-6 “Resolution of the Charlestown Redevelopment Commission Regarding Approval of Additional Appropriation
      • Motion to approve resolution made by Ted Little
      • Seconded by Pat Glotzbach
      • No additional discussion
      • Unanimous approval
      • Mayor Hall said he is excited about the Renaissance Project.
  6.  Adjournment
    • Motion to adjourn made by Eric Vaughn

    • Unanimous approval
