Board of Public Works 12/17/2018

The Charlestown Board of Public Works met for a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, December 17 at 9:00am. Following is a summary of the meeting with full audio (4:21) available at the end. 

  1. Call to Order/Pledge of Allegiance: Ben Ledbetter
  2. Determination of a Quorum and Roll Call: Members in attendance were Ted Little, Mayor Bob Hall, and Ben Ledbetter. Also in attendance were Deputy Clerk Treasurer Heather Mick and City Attorney Michael Gillenwater. 
  3. Approval of prior meeting’s Minutes, Current Claims, and Payroll Allowance Docket from 12/03/2018 to 12/16/2018 combined into one motion for approval. 
    • Motion to approve made by Ted Little
    • Seconded by Ben Ledbetter
    • No Discussion
    • Unanimous Approval 
  4. Lease purchase agreement – Ben Ledbetter 
    • Mr. Ledbetter presented a lease purchase agreement for a new loader from Best Equipment. The new equipment will carry about four more yards of material and improve efficiency transporting debris, trash, and limbs. Total cost is $172, 119. Lease will be a straight 60 month (5 year) lease costing approximately $38,000 per year. 
    • Mayor Hall noted that this replaces aging equipment purchased in 2002 or 2003 and that there are no current payments on the other equipment. 
    • Once approved they will send the lease forward.
